We love to welcome visitors to Sisson Meadow and the other trails and landscapes that Siskiyou Land Trust helps to preserve and maintain!

The Siskiyou Land Trust (SLT) is a community based non-profit organization that strives to protect open space, ranch and farmlands, forest and wetlands, natural resources, scenic viewsheds and wildlife habitat in beautiful Siskiyou County.  Founded in 1993, we work with willing landowners, agencies, and organizations to help preserve open spaces, support community projects and connect people to nature.

Thanks to the landowners who have cooperated with the Siskiyou Land Trust to protect these lands and construct trails, three beautiful walks in the Mt. Shasta community are open to the public to enjoy.

Sisson Meadow Trail and Boardwalk

Downtown to City Park Trail

Spring Hill Trail

Details and maps on these three easy, family-friendly trails are linked below.

Please leave no trash behind on these walks, not even the smallest bit of paper or plastic (in fact, it’s always a great habit to hike with a small bag and pick up any litter you might find).

Dogs are welcome on these trails, but must be on leash and under control at all times (and of course, pick up their “litter” too).

The trails are not open at night, but offer fabulous early morning dawn views and evening sunset beauty.

Sisson Meadow is the most well know and used of SLT holdings, located in the center of our community with 1/2 mile of paved pathway and boardwalk. This beautiful meadow offers spectacular mountain views, benches and preserved wetland habitat. Best access is the wheelchair friendly path behind the Mt. Shasta Library at 515 E. Alma Street. An easy, flat walk. CLICK HERE FOR MAP AND MORE INFO

CityParkTrailpanoDowntown to City Park Trail

The Downtown to City Park Trail is a project in progress to connect the center of Mt. Shasta with the City Park on the northern edge of town.  Completed trails run through meadows, woods, and along waterways.  Begin this shady 1 mile loop hike at the Mt. Shasta City Park. An easy hike on dirt trails and over wooden bridges.  CLICK HERE FOR MAP AND MORE INFO

SpringHillpanoSpring Hill Trail

The Spring Hill Trail climbs 600+ feet to the summit of Spring Hill on the north edge of town, with a panorama of spectacular views in all directions.  Plan on a 3 mile round trip up and down the forested trail.  Park at the trailhead on at the end of a short residential street off Ski Village Drive near its intersection with N. Mt. Shasta Blvd.  Take drinking water and wear good hiking shoes for this lovely hike.  CLICK HERE FOR MAP AND MORE INFO AT HIKEMTSHASTA.COM
