_____

Item 1: Framed Brad Goldpaint print of “The Mask and the Mirror”, metallic print 12″x18″.

This framed Brad Goldpaint print of “The Mask and the Mirror” is one of the auction items.

This fall Brad Goldpaint was named the Overall Winner of the 2018 Astronomy Photographer of the Year award by The Royal Museums of Greenwich, England in a competition that had 4400 entries from 91 countries. SLT is honored to count Brad and his wife Marci as Land Trust friends and supporters.

Brad’s love for the natural world and the night sky has touched the Land Trust in several ways: he held an amazing slideshow, The Invasion of the Star Catchers, in 2015 and took students of his night sky photography workshop on a conservation property owned by SLT.

We’re delighted to offer Brad’s gift of this stunning photo of Mt. Shasta with the Milky Way arching above and casting a reflection in Hammond Pond. Brad’s talent for photography is paired with a wonderful way of musing about his photos, and you can click here to read his words about The Mask and The Mirror on his website.

Thank you Brad!

Item 2: Limited edition print of “By A Hare’s Breath” by Millie Whipplesmith Plank

Millie Whipplesmith Plank has been the Artist in Residence at Lassen Volcanic National Park and Glacier National Park. Her family came to know SLT several years ago when the Land Trust facilitated five conservation easements that permanently conserve over 5,000 acres of working land in Scott Valley. As we’ve all come to know each other better, SLT has held several events at Scott River Ranch, helped out with projects on occasion and held our summer dinner, The Whole Cow, on the ranch. Millie came to SLT with the idea to make a print that could be used to support our work and here is the beautiful result.

The print is a reduction woodblock print using two plates and 12 ink colors printed on Japanese paper. Each print is an original; the inking and hand pulling processes contribute individual differences. This is print 1 of 18 and signed by the artist. Read more about the work here and be sure to look at photos of the print making process.

Print size 18×24, Image size 13×19
