The Siskiyou Land Trust begins its ninth annual slideshow series on Thursday, November 8 at 7pm at Mount Shasta Sisson Museum. Shon Bollock, an award winning filmmaker from Mount Shasta, will present his newest project, Last Wild Bison, filmed in Yellowstone National Park earlier this year.

What does Wildness mean? In the 21st century much of the Wild West has been colonized, forgotten or buried. Shon’s presentation will shed light on the complicated livestock management practices spread among three states and the only remaining link to a wild North America, the central herd of Yellowstone. He’ll will share his adventures the production of the Last Wild Bison, the activists on the ground protecting the central herd and the ever changing management strategy of Yellowstone National Park.

Shon’s connection to the wild began when he was introduced to whitewater rafting at the tender age of 2 months old by his father Steve. Shon eventually became a professional kayaker, with sponsorship from some of the top brands, such as Subaru and GoPro. After graduating with a degree in Film Production and Digital Media from University of California Santa Cruz, Shon joined the GoPro Media team becoming their Creative Director for Brand Partnerships, where he created content for events and brands, including Tour de France and Ford. Shon then started his own company, Locks Media, creating branded content for corporations such as Verizon, Volkswagen and Yahoo.

Shon is dedicated to his passion for conservation in Last Wild Bison, set to premier in 2020. It is a story of balance, conservation and the last remaining genetic link to the original bison that once roamed freely from Virginia to Alaska. How did we go from over 40 million wild bison to just 50 who settled in what is now Yellowstone National Park? Come find out.

The Land Trust slideshow series will be held at the museum on the second Thursday monthly from November through April. The shows are a community fundraiser for Siskiyou Land Trust, and a donation of $8-$10 is requested. All are welcome. For more information call the office at 530.926.2259.  Doors open at 6:30pm.
