Join us for the final slideshow of our 2015-2016 season on Thursday, May 12. 11 at 7:00 pm in the Sisson Museum in Mt. Shasta as the authors of Mount Shasta Wildflowers present the story of iconic Mount Shasta artist Edward Stuhl. This event is part of our annual slideshow series, and the suggested $8 donation is a fundraiser for the Siskiyou Land Trust.

ShastaLily_printEd Stuhl painted wildflowers on Mount Shasta for almost 50 years. An avid mountaineer and conservationist, Stuhl is seen in this photo at the Sierra Club’s Shasta Alpine Lodge at Horse Camp circa 1930.

The new Mount Shasta Wildflowers botanical field guidebook, created by Michael Zanger, Jane Cohn, Linda Freeman, & Ken Goehring, features Stuhl’s treasured paintings to identify local wildflowers.

Sthul_HCamp_c1930Michael Zanger will present photos and stories on the life of Edward Stuhl. Ken Goehring will share an overview of the plants on Mount Shasta, how Ed was able to identify the flowers and how the paintings were used to create the book Mount Shasta Wildflowers. The evening will also include tips on using the new field guide and some special insights into Ed’s work.

Watch for the SLT Wildflower Fieldtrip!

Leslie Tift, musician and owner of Mount Shasta Native Seeds, will lead a botanical adventure based on the use of the Mount Shasta Wildflowers guidebook.
