The Mt. Shasta 2021 annual invasive weed pull “Let’s Pull Together Day” that will take place this year on Saturday, May 1st.  This is a wonderful opportunity for the community to come together in the removal of invasive plants that crowd out and kill our native species.

Volunteers will meet at 9AM on the lawn in front of the Main Lodge building at Mt. Shasta City Park, then split into teams for several sites in town and nearby Spring Hill and Lake Siskiyou areas.  All work will be outdoors, and will last until early afternoon.  Bring your masks for when you are in close proximity with other volunteers…and as the poster below says, bring your own hand tools, water bottle, snacks and wear appropriate work clothes.

Join volunteers and experienced team leaders to learn the difference between weeds and local plants…and discover the pleasure of a good weed pull!  Scotch Broom and Dyer’s Woad are major targets of this year’s efforts. The event was canceled in 2020, so the invasive weed plants have had an extra year to gain a foothold.  Come volunteer and bring friends to enjoy being outdoors and getting great exercise that benefits our environment.
