Renee Patrick, the Oregon Desert Trail Coordinator, will present a slideshow on the beauty and challenges of hiking one of the newest long distance routes in our nation. The Oregon Desert Trail offers a 750 mile adventure, traversing the spectacular high desert landscape of southeastern Oregon, including Hart Mountain National Antelope Refuge, Steens Mountain, and the Owyhee Canyonlands.
Over a mixture of cross country travel, trail and two-track roads, Renee Patrick was the 10th hiker to complete the route. She’ll share the basics of hitting the trail with stories and photos from her section hiking & packrafting trips in 2016.
Drawing on her 10,000 backpacking miles and recent triple crown accomplishment (completing the AT, PCT & CDT), Renee is applying all her knowledge and passion for trails to this new route. Her love of the high desert translates into a desire to get outside as much as possible and to inspire others to do the same.
Join us to discover a deeper appreciation and connection to the eastern Oregon areas of our own backyard.
This final slideshow of the season is a fundraiser for the Siskiyou Land Trust. Suggested donation is $8 to $10 per person. The show will be presented on Thursday, April 12, 7:00 pm at the Mt Shasta Sisson Museum. Door opens at 6:30 so come early to make sure there’s an available seat for this fabulous presentation!
