Siskiyou Land Trust is a conference facilitator and member of the California Northern Region Land Trust Council’s 2013 Conference on June 27 and 28 at River Lodge in Fortuna CA. Titled “Connecting Land and People: Farms, Fish, and Forest for Future Generations, this two-day conference is the cutting-edge conversation of the Land Trust movement in Northern California.
California’s Northern Region covers seven counties. The region extends from the snow-covered peaks of Siskiyou to the beaches and redwoods of Humboldt and Del Norte, from the vineyards of Sonoma and Lake to the rivers of Mendocino and Trinity. This region is a hotspot for biodiversity and agricultural productivity—and also for creative approaches to land and water conservation.
The conference will explore the innovative strategies and voluntary tools that land trusts are using to ensure that prosperity and development are balanced with open space and wilderness, while also celebrating humans’ connection with the land.
SLT will be a key participant of the event, and the public is welcome to attend. For more information, contact Kathleen Hitt at kathhitt@gmail.com.
