The Mount Shasta Area Audubon invites the public to join a field trip to the McCloud River and McCloud Falls on Sunday, June 30.
Meet at Ray’s Market in Mt. Shasta behind the former Dugout Restaurant at 7:30 a.m. and bring food, water, binoculars, field guides, and comfortable shoes. Participants, led by experienced birder Joey Russell, will look for birds near the summit of Highway 89, and then proceed to the McCloud River and lower falls. Target species include Fox Sparrow (Thick-billed), Green-tailed Towhee (photo at right), Chipping Sparrow, and MacGilvray’s Warbler.
